42 George Street – Written by Melesa Eldred

Act 1 & 2 – Thursday 2 July, 8pm

Act 3 – Friday 3 July, 8pm

Join us for a new behind the scenes theatre experience. At the writers, table is a series where we will showcase a new play at the early stages of its development into a full work. You will witness the actors in a table reading of the script and watch as they are given direction on changes and how to interpret the text. Your reactions will be used to help make changes to the script and you may be asked for feedback.

A unique experience for any theatre fan.

The first work we are showcasing is 42 George Street by Melesa Eldred.

A house holds the memories of those who have lived under its roof. The experiences of new beginnings, sad endings, celebrations, and confrontations are stored in the walls that witnessed it all.

42 George Street opens its doors to allow you a peek into the lives of three families who have lived there. It will give you a glance into the life-changing moments of its residents set against the backdrop of events that shaped Australia.

Melesa was born and raised in Gippsland and has been a very active member of the Sale Theatre Company for a decade.

Melesa has acted, produced, stage managed and directed productions and she co-wrote the highly popular and well-received Somebody’s Mum with Gaby Kruitof. 42 George Street is Melesa’s first solo script.
