Dance for Parkinson's
We had a successful first Dance for Parkinson's class on Saturday 16 December, you may have seen it reported on WIN News. This will be our second trial class and we are inviting anyone in the Gippsland region to attend!
Our two instructors from Melbourne, Paris and Zara had a fantastic time and can't wait to come back and share this amazing program with you again. However, we need more participants, we are still in the trial phase and aim to have some local dance instructors trained up in the program so we can have a permanent class happening at The Wedge.
This can only happen with more people attending the trial classes, it is one hour and is then followed by a lunch, where we sit down and chat and get to know each other.
The Dance for Parkinson’s program originated at the Mark Morris Dance Centre in 2001 primarily for people suffering with Parkinson’s. The program is now all-inclusive and is open not only to Parkinson’s sufferers, their caregivers and family members, but can also be a positive experience for those with Motor Neuron Disease, Huntington’s, dementia and Alzheimers. It can also assist those people who have injuries that have had an impact on their physical movement and anyone else who would like to come and enjoy a dance class and social interaction.
The class will be an hour long with a light lunch afterwards in Equus.
