Gippsland Symphony Orchestra Celebrating 250 years of Beethoven

29 Mar 2:00pm

Featuring the finest orchestral players from around Gippsland under the direction of maestro David Williams OAM performing Beethoven’s Symphony No 6 ‘Pastorale’ plus Grieg Piano Concerto in A minor with Soloist Jacob Evans

Originally dubbed ‘recollections of life in the country’, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 is his homage to the great outdoors. Within its buoyant, optimistic melody the Artist promises an ‘awakening of pleasant feelings upon arriving in the country’; if this music had a scent, it would be freshly cut grass and fields of bluebells, or maybe even a whiff of the farmyard.

The Grieg Piano Concerto in A minor was the twenty-five-year-old Norwegians finest work with stunning piano movements, sandwiched either side of the Adagio so beautiful he never composed another.
