Naidoc Week Celebration – Black Satin

8 Nov 1:30pm

In partnership with the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation, The Wedge Performing Arts Centre is bringing a special Naidoc Week celebration to The Wedge Loading Dock.

The day will feature a Welcome to Country, followed by a special performance by Aboriginal rock band Black Satin.

Black Satin was originally formed in 1976, by cousins Ricky Harrison, Nick Moffatt, Wayne Thorpe and Tony Hood.

The music generated by the band is reminiscent of the pioneering days of Aboriginal rock-reggae music.

Over the years the group has performed with many Australian and overseas acts including Cold Chisel, Redgum, Men At Work, INXS, Goanna, and international acts Split Enz, The Clash, Ian Drury, Peter Tosh and Carlos Santana.

The band was inducted into the Adelaide Music Collectives South Australian music ‘Hall of Fame’ in 2016 and the National Indigenous Music ‘Hall of Fame’ in 2011.

This event is free and will be live-streamed on Facebook.
