The Victorian State Ballet brings their magical ballet The Little Mermaid to Sale!
This new work in the company’s repertoire follows the narrative of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic færy tale. This widely-known and much-loved story represented an opportunity to bring to life an underwater world inhabited by myriad sea folk and lively characters.
The story unfolds in another world where a mermaid dreams of a life beyond the sea. She bears witness to shipwreck and comes to the aid of a drowning sailor. Having saved his life and returned him to the shore, her curiosity is awakened. She seeks to join her sailor on shore and discover human ways.
Featuring internationally-recognised artists and magnificent costumes, The Little Mermaid endeavours to immerse the audience in an exhilarating visual feast.
