The Wedge Updates

1 Apr 7:00pm

A MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR:

Hello,

While the John Leslie Theatre is temporarily closed, the team at The Wedge Performing Arts Centre is busy coming up with ideas to entertain you at home. You will see on The Wedge website and Facebook page they have already started to promote streamed content of professional companies from all over the world and through this service you will be able to watch live streamed opera, drama, ballet, comedy and music while being in your own home. Some of these services are free, some are pay per view and some ask for a donation (please be generous if you can and help support the arts industry and its practitioners).

The Wedge team is also working on some local content and will soon be sending out a survey to get some feedback on what you might like to see.

They are still processing the live performances that have been cancelled or rescheduled and if you had a ticket to one of them, they will contact you soon to offer a refund or exchange.

We can’t wait to see you back in the foyer, but until then stay safe and know that the team at The Wedge is doing their very best to keep the virtual show on the road.

Alan Hall

Mayor Wellington Shire Council

UPDATES:

In accordance with announcements by both the Prime Minister and the Premier regarding required closures of entertainment venues as of midday today, Monday 23 March, The Wedge is now closed until further notice. We will await advice regarding potential reopening. Ticket holders for performances at The Wedge will continue to be contacted as we work through our refund arrangements with show producers and we ask your patience in waiting for us to contact you. Keep safe.

Temporary closure of The Wedge for performances – UPDATE 19/03/2020.

Due to impacts on the performing arts industry from efforts to manage spread of coronavirus, all Wedge Performing Arts Centre performances scheduled to take place over the coming weeks are cancelled or rescheduled. At this stage, we are planning to recommence presenting performances from 1 June, however, the official advice is changing all the time and we will be as flexible with our plans as is possible to be.

Our decision to cancel or postpone performances has not been made lightly and is in response to Wellington Shire Council’s consideration of the Chief Health Officer’s recommendations around applying appropriate social distancing measures and banning indoor public gatherings of more than 100 people. We are also responding to feedback and cancellations/postponements from the performing arts industry and businesses who are also working hard to meet responsibilities in this challenging situation.

The Wedge is currently working with producers to formulate exchange/refund policies for each show scheduled during this time, please see details below. We hope to reschedule as many shows as possible. For rescheduled shows that you are unable to attend, a full refund will be offered.

Patrons will be contacted directly by The Wedge with exchange and/or refund details.

PLEASE WAIT FOR US TO CONTACT YOU.

Your tickets will be honoured for new dates or refunded if you can’t attend the new date or if the show is cancelled. We are still contacting producers so will be in touch soon.
